What is Levosulpiride?
Levosulpiride is a substituted benzamide antipsychotic,reported to be a selective antagonist of dopamine D2 receptor activity on both central and peripheral levels.
Levosulpiride is an atypical neuroleptic and a prokinetic agent.
Levosulpiride is also claimed to have mood elevating properties.
Levosulpiride is used in the treatment of psychoses,particularly negative symptoms of schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, dysthymia, vertigo, dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome and premature ejaculation.
Function
1. Antipsychotic to treat neurological schizophrenia, also used for intractable vomiting, peptic ulcer, and traumatic brain injury, dizziness, headache.
2. Levosulpiride also used for intractable vomiting and peptic ulcer.
3. Antiemetic
4. Dopamine D2 and D3-receptor antagonist.Antipsychotic;antidepressant;antiemetic.
5. Levosulpiride with similar effect as sulpiride, but the dosage of Levosulpiride is only half or less, thus the side effects is less.
